DJ Woody Woods
Although his birth-name is Lemuel, the world knows this legend as Woody Woods - “The Voice of Charleston.” Radio brought Woody from his hometown of Fort Wayne, IN to Charleston, WV as a young man, more than 25 years ago. His long and storied career with WV Radio Corporation begins with Woody being given the opportunity to start the first Hip-Hop radio station format in WV history. Alongside George (Gee-Money) Mitchell, 107.3 “The Beat” is his baby! Ever since its inception (formerly 98.7), Woody has been the Program Director, advocate, and predominant on-air talent. Although he’s received countless awards over the years, the highlight of his career came in 2024, when Woody was inducted into the “WV Broadcasting Hall of Fame.”
Woody Woods is both a family man, and a pillar of the community. He is a husband to Valinda K. Neal-Woods, father of five wonderful children, and even grandfather to one precious soul. When Woody isn’t working or spending time with his family, you’ll most likely find him giving back to the community. From creating and maintaining “The Beat’s Backpack Attack” which provides much needed school supplies to hundreds of children every year... to using his on-air talents to raise money for St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, Woody never stops doing for others.
I
Don’t let Woody’s deep involvement in bringing Hip-Hop to WV fool you. While those roots certainly run deep, his favorite style of music to enjoy personally is Country! His eclectic taste and vast music knowledge make him a perfect fit for BRAVO Live DJ. Woody is a high-energy performer to say the least. If there’s a party to be had, he’s bringing it! He’s spent decades refining his ability to “read a crowd,” so he’s always playing the right song at just the right time. BRAVO owner, Josh Ruby, is on record as saying that “Woody is by far the best MC I’ve ever witnessed." Couple those two talents together, and you have a recipe for one of the best Wedding and Corporate Event DJ’s to ever exist!
